vhatsapp brings two connection paths into the same product: linked-phone QR devices and Meta Business API credentials. They have different setup steps, so it helps to decide how each number will be used before connecting it.

QR connections

The QR path starts in the Connect WhatsApp / QR or Devices area. Add a device, generate a QR code and link it from the phone. Keep each connection clearly named so campaigns and team members use the intended number.

Business API connections

The Business API area accepts your Meta access token and Phone Number ID. Verify the connection before saving it. Your Meta business setup, number and credentials must be ready separately; adding them to vhatsapp does not complete Meta onboarding for you.

What to prepare

  • Decide which number and team will use each connection.
  • For QR pairing, keep the phone and the workspace available during setup.
  • For the API path, prepare the correct Meta credentials and protect the access token.
  • Review the connection and usage allowances in your vhatsapp plan.

Keep credentials out of conversations

Enter access tokens only in the connection form. Do not paste them into website chats, contact enquiries or campaign messages. If you are unsure which setup fits your workflow, contact the team with a description of what you want to do, without sending credentials.

Your vhatsapp subscription and any charges associated with your Meta account are separate. Review both before sending messages.
